I'm obviously proud of all my learners' achievements, but especially so in Alfie's case.
Alfie has Autism, and today he passed his driving test, not at the first attempt, not with zero faults, but after almost 2 years of determination, hard work, and perseverance to overcome the personal difficulties that his diagnosis presents him with on a daily basis.
Throughout this time he has worked to coordinate hand and foot controls effectively, develop awareness and responses to hazards all around him, and to predict the sometimes unexpected actions of other road users!
Alfie has overcome his fears and anxieties to be able to safely drive a manual gear vehicle to an independent level on busy roads, and is a great example of what can be done with the right attitude and mindset to succeed.
Congratulations on your achievement, Alfie! I wish you all the best for the future.
